As usual, feel free to use this as a place to talk about anything you would like—within the limits of reason and the community guidelines.
The Twins are in first place, and Cleveland is in last place. No one tell me about sample sizes
In case you missed it yesterday:
- Take your pick of optimism or pessimism, with five reasons the Twins will be good this season, and five reasons the Twins will be bad this season.
- Fanpulse says that Twins fans are very confident in the job Rocco Baldelli is doing so far.
- The Twins won yesterday, and here is Tawny’s most excellent game recap. I hear on good authority it has words.
Elsewhere in Twins Territory:
- Walk-up songs are one of the best parts of the game, and Brandon Warne suggested new songs for the 2019 Twins. The best part is the position he lists for Willians Astudillo though.
- Rocco Baldelli knows the value of patience, and not overreacting to his mistakes. He might not have made one yesterday, but it will happen eventually to the rookie skipper.
- SI listed the best beer at each ballpark, and had very nice things to say about the selection at Target Field. Several local brews get a shout-out.
And around the baseball world:
- The Dodgers set an opening day record, by cranking out eight dongs against the Diamondbacks.
- Rob Manfred basically said that indy-leaguers don’t matter, and its not a good look for the commissioner.
- Lookout Landing dug up scouting reports on Ichiro Suzuki from 1999, and well, that scout was very not correct. (this is a satire post)
- The MLB is now the first major US sport without a player who debuted in the ‘90s.
Interesting note from #MLB - there’s not a single active player left from the 20th century.

With Adrian Beltre and Bartolo Colon no longer playing, MLB is the first of the 4 major sports without someone still around who played in the 1900s. @wbz
- If you’re a movie buff, the MSP Film Society is doing a one-week only showing, starting tonight, of the movie Screwball, which is a comedic documentary about Anthony Bosch and the Biogenesis scandal.
Today’s discussion question:
What’s your favorite movie that is generally overlooked, underrated, or otherwise forgotten about.
