Just kidding about the Xavier Moore thing

Time to, uh, burn all your... Xavier Moore jerseys?

News brook early Sunday morning that the Twins had traded outfield prospect Zack Granite to the Rangers for minor league pitcher Xavier Moore. Personally, it seemed pretty uneventful even though I somehow wrote an entire post about it.

Turns out it was even more uneventful than I thought, as the Twins have already flipped the Xavier guy to the Baltimore Orioles for $750,000 in international signing bonus cap space. Reminder: This doesn’t mean the Twins actually got $750,000, they just got the ability to spend that much more on signing players who aren’t from the USA or Canada. That signing bonus money is limited per team (hence the reason people are trading for it), and could definitely turn out useful.

Xavier Moore, who was a Twin for all of (checks imaginary watch) an hour-ish, pitched at two different levels last year (Rookie Ball and Low-A), posting a 5.30 ERA over 18.2 innings. He’s 20 years old and he has his entire life ahead of him.
