Hey ya big bunch of nincompoops! Here’s your news from around the world of baseball and a big fancy open thread to discuss it in! Wow! Here’s some sick jamz to put you in the mood.
Previously on TwinkieTown
- Blog lord TJ revealed the results from our Community Prediction series, so if you haven’t yet go see how hivemind we all are. All praise to Willians, glory he shall bring.
- SooFoo recapped yesterday's ultra fun game. Even if you remember what happened, reading recaps is still worth your while, as we have a very talented staff of cool people.
Oh hey other people write about the Twins too!
- The Runner Sports ranked the players on the Twins opening day roster. Astudillo isn’t even in the top 5 so clearly they all be cray-cray over there.
- Miguel Sano is resuming baseball activities, whatever that vagueness portends. Thanks CBS!
- Zone Coverage profiles Ryne Harper’s journey because everyone loves when non-roster invitees make the team. Hyne Rarper is a top tier spoonerism.
- Major League baseball awards a wrestling-esque “Championship Belt” during its annual arbitration symposium, which is both apparently a thing and a nominee for event I least would like to attend, to the team that best limits players earning potential. The Twins were a finalist this year. Yay?! Gotta love the exorbitantly rich being exorbitantly awful.
The League as a Whole
- For the Ringer, Ben Lindbergh looks at how today’s players are far and away the best ever. A history and tradition obsessed sport’s fan-base might not like the optics, but the expanding talent base and modern nutrition means the heroes of yore wouldn’t be so great if the time-traveled to the modern era. Which, oddly enough, is the plot of my upcoming fake book that only exists for this joke.
Today’s Discussion
With the advent of Twinkie Town Talk, Monday Morning Minnesota is something of an outdated model. While I’ll always just do whatever I want anyway, and you’ll still be getting video game music and bad jokes, I was wondering if I should re-brand to Twinkie Town Talk for the sake of conformity. I asked TJ and he said “Literally no one cares leave me alone” (or something like that.) so I’ll ask you all instead.
