Good morning! There was no game yesterday, in fact there is only one Thursday game this month, meaning my choice to switch to covering Thursday games was a really good one and I get to be the laziest staff member for at least a few more weeks. There is a game today however. Look forward to that! The game scheduled for today has already been postponed due to the fact winter just won’t go away. Here's some reading material in case you need some material to read.
Previously on this Croatian Bird Watching Message Board Minnesota Baseball Blog
- Jonathan Gamble looked at Forbes’ annual baseball team valuations, which valued the Twins franchise at 1.2 Billion. I feel like this is a good time to remind people that a billion is literally one thousand millions and no single player's contract is actually a meaningful enough amount to stop teams from affording basically anything.
- Yesterday's Twinkie Town Talk by blog generalissimo TJ was pretty much Pizza Town Talk. Considering I've had nothing but salad for every meal for a while now, it was rough to read. Please send pizza to Twinkie Town HQ (my apartment.)
- If FanPulse is anything to go by, Twins fans are feeling uncharacteristically optimistic. Hold on to that as long as you can, you beautiful people.
Other Rad Twins Links
- Bring Me The News checks out the numbers to find out what is different about Byron Buxton this year that is making is start so hot.
- CBS Sports looks at how a Cleveland team filled with injuries and a bottom tier offense gives the Twins a small window. However, Cleveland keeps winning thanks to playing the teams at the bottom of the AL barrel who are roughly as competitive this year as a team would be if it comprised of just 25 dachshunds that someone put little cleats on and stuck mini souvenir bats in their mouths.
Around the League in Links
- You might remember Cuba and the MLB reaching a deal to post Cuban players in a manner similar to those in Japan and Korea. Well the government said no, so now everyone gets to keep risking their lives and not seeing their families again. Yay?
- Atlanta Youngster Ozzie Albies (Who really sounds like he should be Australian.) signed what might be an extension so bad that it might be a sign of the apocalypse. Remember how teams are worth thousands of millions? Yeah.
