Know Thine Enemy: Royals Review

The very first thing I think about when I hear the word “Royals” is that one song by Lorde. I’m not sure if she’s making music anymore, and I couldn’t care less.

Since I got that out of the way, your Minnesota Twins have travelled down to Kansas Missouri to take on the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium for sole possession of first place in the American League Central. It’s a two-game series because why not? My family went to Kauffman Stadium to watch a Twins-Royals game on the drive back from a trip to Oklahoma City and it was a good experience even though I think the Twins lost and this was back in the late 90’s so my memory is pretty fuzzy.

Enough with my memories and onto the game: José Berríos takes the mound for the Twins tonight for his second start of the season. In case you missed Opening Day (and if you did, much shame upon you and your family), Berrios went 7.2 innings, allowing two hits, one walk, and striking out ten against Cleveland and received the W. Some say that Cleveland’s lineup is trash. Some say it was pretty cold for the hitters. I say it’s too early in the season to know if he’s for real.

I don’t really pay attention to other teams very much besides the Rockies, so someone named Brad Keller is pitching for the Royals tonight. He’s also pitched in one game already – also on Opening Day, so he must be good – and went seven innings, allowing two hits, a walk, and five strikeouts and got the W against the evil White Sox. Not as good as La MaKina.
