Know Thine Enemy: The Crawfish Boxes
The Twins played an impressive first 10 innings or so in Houston spread over the first two games of the series, but things began to fall apart somewhat in the middle innings on Tuesday.
If one is so inclined to borrow a basketball phrase, as I am, then one might say that the Astros are on a 10-1 run dating back to last night’s game. After the Twins grabbed a 3-0 lead on a first-inning, three-run jiminy-jack from Eddie Rosario, the Astros took a 4-3 lead. The Twins tied it at four, and then it was all Astros, all the time.
The Twins are at a bit of a disadvantage in terms of the starting pitcher matchup on Wednesday as they’ll face off against old friend enemy Justin Verlander, who is busy being awesome yet again and pitching to the tune of a 3-0 record with a 3.00 ERA and a sparkling WHIP of 1.00.
The visitors, on the other hand, will be trotting out Kohl Stewart, who was called up just to out-duel Verlander in the rubber game of the series. (It’s actually the worst because if the Twins hadn’t been rained out last Friday night than Jose Berrios would have been in line to actually out-duel J-Ver. But here we are.)
The Twins have also called up Fernando Romero as a reinforcement out of the bullpen that they hopefully will not need.
