Game 7: Twins at Phillies

Maybe less rain this time?

Today, Michael Pineda will make his second start of the year. Last time out, he split pitching duties with Martin Perez, going only four innings but striking out five and surrendering just one hit. With Perez and the rest of the bullpen having factored into last night’s clustermess, Pineda will hopefully get a longer look and his first “legit” start.

Opposite him is the formidable Jake Arrieta, four years removed from a Cy Young Award, three from a World Series ring, and about a week from his 2019 debut, when he walked six men and somehow allowed just one run. His name still carries the weight of that masterful 2015 campaign, but he’s slowly begun to decline over the following seasons, and might prove more touchable than expected this afternoon.
