Hoping to wipe the slate clean from last night’s sloppy, off-kilter affair, the Minnesota Twins will trot out right-hander Jake Odorizzi to try to even the ledger in New York City. Odo is coming off of his best start of the year: seven innings, seven strikeouts, no runs against Justin Verlander and the Houston Astros. However, it was just the second time in 2019 that Jake has made it through the sixth inning.
Opposing him is J.A. Happ, who’s been in the league since Johan Santana was still pitching in the Metrodome. He was brilliant down the stretch after the Yanks acquired him late last season (7-0, 2.69 ERA, 8.9 K/9) but he’s off to a very average start so far this season. Happ, too, is coming off of seven shutout innings in his last start.
The big news for Yankees fans today is the return of Miguel Andujar off the injured list. The slugging third baseman, and last year’s Rookie of the Year runner-up, will be batting cleanup and returning to action for the first time since March 31st.
Mitch Garver is still hitting leadoff, Eddie Rosario is back in the lineup, and the Twins are ready for a comeback afternoon.
Go Twins Go!
