It’s a Saturday matinee on the east coast, which means a little good-morning preview for those of us west of St. Petersburg!

With the series even at a game apiece, the Minnesota Twins will send out Kyle Gibson. It’s been fun to watch Gibby’s transformation from Rick Anderson-era groundballer to sudden strikeout aficionado, tied with Jake Odorizzi with a team-leading 9.4 K/9. Gibson is coming off of the kind of start we’ve been waiting for all year; seven innings, one run, nine strikeouts against the White Sox. Tampa Bay is a tougher team, but it’d be nice to see Gibson build upon his successes last time out and put together a string of tight outings.

You’d be forgiven if you weren’t familiar with Rays starter Yonny Chirinos. A rookie last year, Chirinos has 29 major-league appearances and 12 starts. In that time he has a 3.28 ERA and 7.2 K/9; the 25-year-old might be turning into another strong Tampa Bay pitching development. He’s coming off of five shutout innings against Toronto.
