Arraez returns; Adrianza to 10-day IL

It’s a busy day for the transaction wire.

One more thing...

The Twins have made another move today, sending infielder Ehire Adrianza to the 10-day IL with what’s being described as “abdominal issues.”

Thankfully, the Twins have some offensive depth this year. Rejoining the club is Luis Arraez, who hit .375 in a strong 10-game cup of coffee earlier this season.

The Minnesota bench now consists of Garver/Castro, Jake Cave (who gets the start tonight), and Luis Arraez. That makes for three lefty pinch-hitting options on nights when Castro is in the starting lineup.

With manager Rocco Baldelli’s “keep-’em-fresh” lineup rotation policy, it’s unlikely that would happen too often. However, Arraez and Cave have proven slightly less than Adrianza and Byron Buxton have, so we might see them ride the bench in a more traditional fashion during the IL stints of the latter.

Time will tell!
