In case you missed it:
- Jorge Polanco, All-Star starter. Sounds pretty good to me.
- I’m not sure the last Twins game has ended yet. It went to 18 innings. Yeah, another one.
- The Turtle was injured the other day, and therefore LaMonte Wade was called up to make his MLB debut. This is good, because Wade is a real outfielder, and Max Kepler and Eddie Rosario are both banged up.
Around Twins Territory
- WCCO (the TV version) looked at what goes into a rain delay versus a cancellation for the Twins.
- A two-fer from the Twins Cities CBS affiliate today—They also had a chat with the Twins barber, who the players call “Andy Fade”
- ESPN has a great long-form piece on Max Kepler, his history, and what he means to European baseball. It’s mostly stuff we might have seen before, but still worth reading. Apparently Max’s mom used to make lasagne for him, Polanco, Gibson, and Sano.
Elsewhere in baseball
- Philadelphia might be home to Gritty, one of the more popular mascots in sports, but the Phillies have adopted a new mascot of their own—a lucky bamboo plant.
- Ben Gamel of the Brewers hit the fastest inside-the-park home run of the season.
- Old friend Bartolo Colon has an instagram now!!!

What is the longest rain delay you’ve stayed at a stadium through?
