First Pitch: 6:10 pm CDT
The Twins have been smashing both bombas and MLB records this weekend. The familiar faces are populating a starting lineup that boasts a combined 162 homers (and if my Minnesota math is correct, that’s an average of one a game through just over 100 contests.)
So, as it often does with teams whose offensive prowess is not in question, the focus turns to the starting pitching. Martin Perez probably would have liked a redo on his last start against the Yankees, although getting a first-inning triple play is enough of a mulligan. He’ll no doubt be happy to see the Chicago White Sox tonight, whose starting nine are a little less formidable than the Bronx Bombers.
Up against Minnesota’s run factory is veteran Ivan Nova, whom it feels like we face all the time somehow. He’s flip-flopped between good and bad starts all month, walking five in under five innings in his penultimate outing, and throwing a complete game his last time out. Needless to say, the Twins will be licking their chops when they see his 5.49 ERA.
GO TWINS GO!
