With the Minnesota Twins and Miami Marlins finalizing the Sergio Romo trade yesterday, there were spots available on the 40-man roster for Romo to onboard right away during the game. However, a 25-man spot needed to be opened up as Romo is in Chicago today to help the Twins take on the Chicago White Sox.
Dustin Morse, Senior Director of Communications for the Twins, tweeted earlier today that reliever Carlos Torres, who was brought up within the last week as bullpen reinforcement, has been designated for assignment. Torres, a veteran who was pitching in Rochester before being called up, did not see any game action with Minnesota during his short time. This move opens up the 25-man roster spots for Romo as well as opens up another 40-man spot for the team, which is currently at 37.
Some player reactions and a couple of trade rumors for your Sunday morning:

- Betsy Helfand of the St Paul Pioneer Press and Dan Hayes of The Athletic have some quotes from Rocco Baldelli about the trade and his time with Romo in Tampa Bay.
- Jon Morosi of the MLB Network has shared that Minnesota has inquired about Arizona Diamondbacks reliever Robbie Ray as well as Texas Rangers starter Mike Minor.
