The Twins lineup ate White Sox starter Dylan Covey for lunch and never looked back.

White Sox starter Dylan Covey threw 14 pitches and didn’t record any outs today. He gave up 5 runs, 2 on a Jorge Polanco homer (16), 3 on a Miguel Sano homer (18). After yesterday’s lackluster offensive performance, this game opened with 5 straight hits, knocking Covey out of the game.

The Twins added 2 more runs in the 4th inning, on Nelson Cruz’s 2-run double. In the 5th, they added a couple more on a homer by Jonathan Schoop, opening up the lead to 9-0.

Meanwhile, Kyle Gibson was having a pretty good day. In the 6th he loaded the bases with no outs, however. Jon Jay singled to score 1 run, but then Gibson struck out the side. He got some help from umpire Angel Hernandez, which wasn’t appreciated by White Sox manager Rick Renteria, who got ejected.

Max Kepler added some more damage in the 8th with a 2-run homer off lefty Ross Detwiler. Tyler Duffey, Ryne Harper and Sean Poppen each tossed scoreless innings to seal the victory.

This game was basically over in the first inning. Gibson had a pretty good start, but only went 6 innings, mainly because the 6th inning took a lot out of him. Lots of studs in the lineup today. Cleveland lost today, so our division lead is back up to 2 games.

Buxton, Polanco, Sano, Kepler, Cruz, Schoop

Kyle Gibson: 6.0 IP, 7 H, 1 BB, 9 SO, TJ forced me to give him a stud.
