In case you missed it
- Matt talked about TOOTBLANs and other baserunning SNAFUs.
- Zach got all sentimental about baseball being a game for kids.
- Sandwiches previewed the upcoming week for the Twins...
- and also brought us some news updates about the 2020 MLB schedule, Nelson Cruz’ recovery, and Sam Dyson (and Snuckles) returning from the IL.
Elsewhere around Twins land
- Apparently La Tortuga will not be around for the playoffs, as the Twins won’t be expecting him back until September. Sad news all around.
- Remember Chris Colabello? He was in town recently with his current Indy-league employer, and Pat Borzi talked to the former Twins slugger. It’s a great story covering Colabello, his steroid incident, and his current Olympic hopes.
- Did you hear about the guy who got hit by a flying mini-donut for cheering at a recent Twins game? Apparently resident good-guy and one of my personal favorites (but you knew that) Kyle Gibson came to his defense.
Elsewhere in baseball
- Hardball Times brings a solid history lesson on women’s professional baseball in the US.
- Astro’s stud pitcher Gerrit Cole left a pre-game warm up due to potential injury. No updates yet, but certainly bears watching as the playoffs start to approach.
Gerrit Cole had right hamstring discomfort while warming up, Astros say.

- It’s been 25 years since the MLB players strike that changed how a generation thought about baseball. ESPN has a retrospective if you are my age, and don’t really remember it, or if you’re a bit older, and want to look back.
- Joe Torre isn’t really happy with the things being said between players and umps. Maybe they should hold the umpires accountable for being bad at their jobs?
