Pineda reinstated from IL; Dobnak optioned to Rochester

So long, cool-facial-hair man.

Sorry, Big Mike. Dobnak and his ‘stache gets priority 1 for this post.

The Minnesota Twins had not announced their starter for tonight’s game against the Texas Rangers in Arlington. Wes Johnson, pitching coach for the Twins, said on a radio show this morning that Michael Pineda would get the call. But hey, wasn’t Big Mike on the Injured List?

Well yes he was, and now he’s not. The Twins formally announced this afternoon that they have re-instated Big Mike from the Injured List. He originally landed on the IL with a right triceps strain. He’s posted good numbers for Minnesota this year, including 117.0 innings in 21 starts, with a K/BB ratio of 4.48; his FIP is the same as his ERA at 4.15. How cool is that? He is indeed slated to start against the Rangers tonight.

To make room for Pineda, the Twins optioned down facial-hair-aficionado Randy Dobnak. The righty, who shot up through the minor league system in two years after being signed off of an independent league team, had one clean appearance in mop-up duty. Against the Cleveland baseball club on August 9, he went 4.0 innings of six-hit, three-strikeout ball. He’ll be sent back to Rochester.
