Game 123: Twins at Rangers

Minnesota attempts to get a win streak going again.

Everything’s bigger in Texas, including the stakes.

With each passing day in August, the division race heads up between the Minnesota Twins and their rivals in Ohio. But while Cleveland has lost three of four on their east coast road trip, the Twins have won three of their last four during their tour of the Central time zone.

Already armed with a 2-0 series advantage after a blowout and a nailbiter, the Twins will send their staff ace to the mound with the hopes of getting a winning streak started. It’s been a topsy-turvy August for Jose Berrios, who got rocked by the Braves and then turned in a quality start at home against Cleveland. Ideally, he’ll be building upon his latter performance this evening, and climbing the latter of success.

Youngster Ariel Jurado will be sent out to pitch by the Rangers. The righty has pitched just over 150 innings, both out of the gate and out of the pen, since last season. This year, he’s got a 5.31 ERA, and is coming off a start during which he was thoroughly dressed down by the Toronto offense. In his last 30.2 innings, he’s sporting a 7.63 ERA, which, incidentally, is one of four area codes used in the Minneapolis metro area.
