Know thy enemy: The shattered husk of South Side Sox

I hate Chicago. I hate everything it stands for as a major metropolitan area that can out-vote the vast geographic territory of the rest of the state (regardless of who is right.) I hate their stupid football team. I hate their stupid baseball teams. I really hate their stupid hockey team’s stupid bandwagon fans. I hate being around that many people at any given time. I hate deep dish pizza. I hate their highest-in-the-nation sales taxes. I hate the corrupt political machine that means governors (of both parties) keep ending up in prison. Most of all, I hate that anyone who finds out I’m from Illinois automatically assumes Chicago.

Italian Beef is amazing though.

Enough ranting, let’s talk about these pitching matchups.

Jake Odorizzi goes for the Twins. Odorizzi sounds vaguely Italian. He’s also been a very above-average pitcher in most of his starts this season, especially on an extra day of rest, like he has for this outing.

He is opposed by someone called Ross Detwiler. That sounds like the name Hollywood gives to recurring background characters. He’s appeared against the Twins as both a starter and a reliever already this season.
