The Twins have 90 wins. The magic number is 11.

Things are looking pretty good in Twinkie Town, but there’s still a little work left to be done.

After a statement win this afternoon, backed almost entirely by the relief pitchers, the Twins will need another strong all-around performance to knock Cleveland’s elimination number into single digits by the end of the day.

On the Cleveland side of the equation, it’s Tyler Clippard out of the gate, as it’s the home squad’s turn for a bullpen game. Thanks to Clevinger’s stellar performance from earlier today, as well as Friday’s postponement, Francona’s squad has a very well-rested bullpen from which to draw.

The Twins will be leading with Lewis Thorpe. While Thorpe hasn’t started a game since his major-league debut on June 30th (I was there!), he was a starter in the minor leagues and hasn’t thrown in over a week. It’s possible he could be asked to go closer to five innings, but no official word yet on what exactly the gameplan is.
