It’s time to see if the Twins have anything left in the tank after Tuesday night’s marathon of a game that ended with an exhilarating HBP RBI by journeyman and hero Ronald Torreyes.
The Twins will send Jake Odorizzi to the bump after his rain-shortened start (but not really because the game didn’t count in any way at all and was a huge of time/energy/effort for everyone) on Friday night in Cleveland. He’ll look to notch his 15th win of the season, carrying a 3.60 ERA into the tilt.
He’ll face off against Ivan Nova, who has had a disappointing season at 10-12 with a 4.86 ERA. He did, however, defeat the Twins back on August 19 in Chicago after putting up 5 2⁄3 innings of two-run ball. While Nova gave up 10 hits to Minnesota and only struck out two men, the White Sox were able to get the win.
Here’s hoping for a non-extra-innings affair. We could all use a bit more rest — players, fans, and bloggers alike.
Below are the lineups, although let’s face it, it doesn’t really matter. Rocco Baldelli is loving his one and only opportunity to take advantage of a jam-packed dugout with 38 or 47 or 922 or however many guys are available to use. At least six of the guys in the below lineup won’t be in their starting position in the field or in the lineup at all come the 8th inning.
Enjoy the game!
