Harper DFA'd to make room for Donaldson
Dan Hayes from The Athletic was first to tweet that the Minnesota Twins' corresponding move to the Josh Donaldson signing was to designate reliever Ryne Harper for assignment. This opens up a spot on the 40-man roster for The Bringer of Rain. Harper, age 30, made his major-league debut last season with the Twins. He went north with the team out of Spring Training as a non-roster invitee. His pitch selection - mostly varying speeds of curveballs - stymied most hitters. He posted a 3.81 ERA (3.66 FIP) in 61 appearances and 54.1 innings of work out of the bullpen. He notched five strikeouts for every walk allowed along with a WHIP of 1.178.
