As always, these posts exist as an open forum. Please feel free to discuss these links, the discussion topic, or anything else vaguely baseball-related—or swap recipes. Especially recipes.
Stuff you’ve probably already seen
- JohnFoley asked a bunch of us how to replace Marwin Gonzalez. The answers vary from very good to mine.
- Bob Engvall spoils your Christmas gifts, and connects it to a former Twins left fielder.
- Matt Monitto keeps playing video games, in his very well-written effort to make us all sad.
- And I think we should be glad its the White Sox paying for a rent-a-pitcher, instead of the Twins.
Stuff about the Twins, but from other places
- BtBS looks into our favorite ageless wonder, and his latest foray into free agency.
- Eddie Rosario says goodbye
- and Matt Wisler found a new home. He’s still sharing a bullpen with a Mr. T. Rogers, though.
Free-agent right-hander Matt Wisler in agreement with Giants on one-year, $1.15M contract, pending a physical, sources tell The Athletic.

- Cody Christie looked into the trade tree that stemmed from sending Chuck Knoblauch to the Yankees. I’m pretty sure that trade is the last thing the Twins won against the Yankees. And yes, I am a believer in the ‘Curse of Chuck Knoblauch.’
Stuff about inferior baseball squadrons
- Tampa owner Stu Sternberg provides us this wonderful self-own
Rays owner Stuart Sternberg on how social distancing rules might impact home attendance: “Most of our games are attended by less than 10,000 people, so we could probably for the most part run a normal stadium operation.”

- Broadcaster Len Kasper is moving across Chicago, and BCB wishes him a fond farewell
- The Miami Marlins are doing something really cool. Wait... They really are. The team has a program attempting to make all the players in their organization fluent in both English and Spanish.
- Thom Brennaman has a new job broadcasting in Puerto Rico, as there’s a drive into deep left field by Castellanos and that’ll be a home run. And so that’ll make it a 4-0 ballgame. I don’t know if I’m going to be putting on this headset again. I don’t know if it’s going to be for the Reds. I don’t know if it’s going to be for my bosses at Fox.
The Roberto Clemente League in Puerto Rico has hired Thom Brennaman as its play-by-play man for the 2020-21 season, which starts tonight. Brennaman, a longtime major-league broadcaster, resigned from the Reds in September after using an anti-gay slur on air.

- Lance Lynn isn’t the only recent move by the White Sox, as they also brought back right fielder Adam Eaton. There are some strong opinions on Eaton held by our friends at South Side Sox.
Discuss:
If you could bring back one still-active former Twins player, who would it be, and why?
