Previously on Twinkie Town:
- Amidst many actions by states, agencies, and companies to limit the spread of COVID-19, Major League Baseball has canceled the rest of spring training, and delayed the start of the season at least a few weeks. This is kinda a big deal.
- Meanwhile, TJ has some controversial alternative ideas, while Marea thinks it is both horrifyingly ultra-sad and the right thing to do. I’m not a virus-knower-abouter, just a regular old virus-getter so my opinion is pointless and I won’t give it. I just wish people didn’t buy out all the toilet paper because I’m running low.
- Gonna start a Patreon but I’m payed in toilet paper and brick ramen.
- Baseball shutting down is going to strain the wallets of a whole lot of minor leaguers. Here’s what you can do to help.
- This bullet is going to be out of place, but now is also a good time to give to charity if you can afford it. Some charities I recommend are MedShare and Direct Relief, but your charity of choice is probably cool too. If you are financially vulnerable, simply do what is best for your family and don’t feel bad if you can’t donate!
Elsewhere in Twins Territory:
- While we might all be in a big rut of panic and sadness deep enough to summon our own Silent Hill fog world, Baseball will be back. And when it is, the Twins might have found a true Ace in Kenta Maeda, who might be even better than he seems.
- Also per Fangraphs, Luis Arraez may not put the “Bomba” in “Bomba Squad” but he seems to be for real, and that is very very good for the Twins.
- Twins Daily examines the possible ways the 2020 MLB season will be completed. Christmastime World Series anyone?
Around the World in Bases and Balls:
- Is 2020 the year of the White Sox? Well I for one hope not! My obviously completely unbiased opinion is that the Twins will win the World Series. (If there is one, ugh...)
- Oh crap, the Yankees are a monster and probably won’t lose 300 players a day this year!
Discussion Starter:
Looks like we need some new hobbies? What are you all going to be doing to pass the time? Me, I just got back into skateboarding, as any woman facing the tail end of her 20’s ought to.
