The Dodgers walked off on Taylor Rogers tonight. That’s something that won’t happen very often though. They also only scored in the first and last inning.
Alex Wood pitched a great game for LA. He got 12 of the first 13 pitchers he faced out, with only a third inning single by Ehire Adrianza to mar the perfect first four innings.
After the first inning, Homer Bailey settled in, and only allowed two more hits through the end of the sixth inning. The first inning was a little rough though. Justin Turner led off with the Jacque Jones special to make it one-nothing. Mookie Betts hit a two-out double, and then Joc Pederson traded places with him to put the Dodgers up two to zero.
The Twins did all of their scoring in the top of the fifth. Ehire Adrianza hit a two-out single for his second hit of the night. Byron Buxton then hit a towering home run to left-center to tie the game. The score would remain tied through the bottom of the ninth. The Twins left men in scoring position in the seventh and eighth, and the cRISPy LOBsters would pinch them tonight.
Taylor Rogers walked Mookie Betts with one out in the ninth, and Betts stole second on a strikeout pitch to Joc Pederson. Corey Seager hit a 3-2 single deep into second base territory, which was enough for Betts to round the horn and walk off with the victory.
Notes
- Jake Cave pinch hit for Bailey in the seventh. Nelson Cruz pinch hit for Sergio Romo in the ninth.
- This was Buxton’s first home run of the season.
- Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen ruptured his UCL pitching in the ninth, and will miss the rest of the season.
