With the 158th pick in the 2020 MLB Draft, the Minnesota Twins have selected Kala’i Rosario, an outfielder from Waiakeia High School, Hawaii.
Would you be shocked if I told you that Kala’i Rosario is a power-first hitter? He is certainly a guy that fits the Twins’ focus on exit velocity and power, earning a 55 power grade from MLB Pipeline. He has enough of a hit tool to make consistant contact but he will strike out a bit like any slugger is prone to do.
Rosario is a good athlete for his size but is already a bit stocky and will certainly find himself in a corner outfield position, which he has the bat to do.
MLB Pipeline lists at there 182nd prospect and Fangraphs have him at a similar 181st, but Baseball America is far higher on him, ranking him 88th overall in this years draft, sighting his maturity and maturity as key factors.
Rosario is the fourth and final selection for the Twins in this year’s draft. Let’s hope it gets back to a full draft for next year!
