This was supposed to be a monthly series where I would review the Twins chances for the division title, playoffs, or even World Series. The only problem with that idea has been the lack of baseball. With it being announced there will be a 60 game season, I’m right back at it with the ZiPS projections.
Projected AL Central standings:

The Twins percentages dropped significantly from when there was supposed to be 162 games. Their playoff% dropped by 16.6% and their World Series% dropped by 0.9%. While the Twins are projected to win the division, it is only by one game instead of the five game difference that was originally there. My favorite side note is that the Royals and Tigers went from pretty much 0% for the playoffs to actual numbers above zero.
Among all the MLB teams, the Twins rank like this:
- 4th for Div%
- 4th for playoff%
- 4th for WsWin%
The Yankees, Astros, and Dodgers are the only teams ahead of them for each category. A 60 game season could literally go so many weird ways. Even a team like the White Sox could somehow sneak into the playoffs (I doubt it) during a short season like this one.
How do you think the season will go? Drop your predictions of the Twins record below and let’s see what everyone thinks! It’ll be a fun, but very weird season for all of us.
