Kenta Maeda will make his first start as a Twin today, facing off against Reynaldo Lopez. The Twins acquired Maeda from the Dodgers in exchange for Brusdar Graterol and Luke Raley back in February.

Reynaldo Lopez has a three pitch mix with a fastball (95), slider (84), and change-up (84), but occasionally throws a curveball (77) as well. He struggled last year, posting a FIP of 5.04 in 33 starts. Looking through his game logs last year it seems he could never string more than a few good starts together before he’d have a clunker.

Alex Avila makes his first start behind the plate for the Twins today.
