It’s no secret the Minnesota Twins have been bit by the injury bug, but the team still finds a way to keep afloat. Here’s some updates on the players that have landed on the Injured List:

  • Starter Rich Hill is with the team on during the road trip, according to Betsy Helfand of the St Paul Pioneer Press. However, he won’t be activated to pitch before the Twins return to Target Field, said Rocco Baldelli. He will most likely throw a bullpen session while in Milwaukee.
  • Reliever Zack Littell hit the I.L. on August 1 with a hamstring injury and is now eligible to be activated. According to Helfand, Baldelli says that the righty shouldn’t be on sidelined much longer. Littell has pitched three innings for the big-league club, allowing six hits, four earned runs, and three homers while striking out one batter.
  • Baldelli doesn’t want to rush it, but if the time comes for the team to need him, Willians Astudillo could get called up according to MLB.com’s Do-Hyoung Park. He’s not on the taxi squad and instead continuing to work out and get some game time in at the alternate training site in St Paul. Of course, La Tortuga’s versatility would be a great asset to the bench.
  • The Bringer of Rain has not ramped up any recovery yet, also according to Park. Although Josh Donaldson has been completing some workout and baseball activities, he hasn’t completed any sprinting or agility activities. Baldelli admits that the initial assessment may have been “a little bit aggressive”.
