Does the losing streak end here?

Cleveland Indians v Detroit Tigers
I wrote the whole intro without mention him, so here is a gratuitous angry Gardy pic

Know Thine Enemy: Bless You Boys (Honestly, they have one of my favorite groups of writers around the network. Good folks over there.)

These guys again! After the cancellations on Thursday and Friday, and the emotionally taxing doubleheader yesterday, it feels like this series will never end. Fortunately, today is the finale where the Twins try to avoid getting swept and attempt to break a three-game losing streak that has stretched for more days than any three-game streak should.

Today’s starter is Kenta Maeda, who has been the Twins’ best starter this season, and who looks like a steal right now. Here is something I wrote about that trade a couple weeks ago.

Read it if you want. Or don’t. I’ve written enough stuff now that it won’t hurt me. I’m dead inside.

Maeda faces Casey Mize. He was a high draft pick for the Tigers a couple years back (#1 overall in 2018) and made his debut August 19th. In his second start, on the 24th, he took his first MLB loss. He gave up four runs on five hits and two walks to the Cubs, in only 3.1 innings. If you want to know more about Mize, my buddy Jay at BYB has some great insight into what the young pitcher brings to the table.

The Twins line-up against Mize looks pretty normal, with Max Kepler leading off and Miguel Sano hitting clean-up. There are still a number of back-ups playing due to injury (and/or being a getaway day.) Most notably, Eddie Rosario gets the day off after an ankle injury last night left him day-to-day, with LaMonte Wade Jr getting the start beside Jake Cave and Kepler.

Anyway, the lights are on, the beer is cold, grab a seat and lets have some fun this afternoon.
