It’s what you’ve been waiting for: Michael Pineda is back from his suspension and he’s going to shore up the Minnesota Twins starting rotation and all will be good in the world. Also, Byron Buxton is back. Also, the Twins need to win. Pretty simple, at least to me, some non-athletic individual sitting in front of a laptop writing about it.

Big Mike will make his first start in almost exactly one year. His last start was on September 6, 2019, when he went six innings of four-hit, one-run, ten-strikeout baseball in a 6-2 loss to the Cleveland Ball Club at Target Field. He had a respectable 4.01 ERA/4.02 FIP with a 8.6 K/9 and a 8.7 H/9. He was the team’s most consistent starter last season, so it will be a sight for sore eyes to see him on the mound again.

He’ll match up against Dallas Keuchel tonight. The Chicago White Sox southpaw has a stellar 2.70 ERA/3.22 FIP across seven starts this season. His 0.4 HR/9 leads the American League, so maybe no bombas tonight? Hopefully someone in the Minnesota lineup disagrees with that. On the other hand, the Twins lineups have not done well against lefties...

How about that Twins lineup, eh?
