The long, grueling off-season in Major League Baseball is starting to move along now. One notable date on the winter calendar for fans of the Minnesota Twins is the annual TwinsFest, usually held at Target Field. However, due to the ongoing pandemic, the festivities will be virtual this winter.

Today, the Twins announced that TwinsFest will take place on Saturday, January 30, through its multiple social media accounts. Some of the activities that may catch some eyes:

  • The day will start off with a table reading of “The Sandlot” with Luis Arraez, Randy Dobnak, Tyler Duffey, Mitch Garver, Thad Levine, Royce Lewis, Devin Smeltzer, and Tommy Watkins.
  • Almost 30 minutes of the day is allotted to manager Rocco Baldelli in a segment called “Chillin’ with the Skipper”.
  • Mike Veeck and Derek Sharrer will talk about the St Paul Saints during a portion of the festivities.
  • There’s something called “Kids Takeover presented by Pentair” that will be featuring Jake Cave. Do kids know who Jake Cave is?
  • I think that one of the most fun segments will be “Shop Talk” with Torii Hunter, Joe Mauer, and someone named Kirk Cousins.
  • The day concludes with some music by Tim McGraw, which is not my preferred flavor of country music, but to each their own.
  • Throughout the day, there will be a silent auction and also chances to purchase mystery balls, a.k.a. autographed baseballs by former and current Twins players.
  • If you donate $50 to the Minnesota Twins Community Fund between now and January 30, you could receive a Twins winter beanie.
