Game 12: Red Sox at Twins

Let’s not lose five straight, okay? Okay.

MLB: Seattle Mariners at Minnesota Twins
Berrios is on the bump.
David Berding-USA TODAY Sports

The Twins and the Red Sox will play the rubber match of their three-game series on the heels of another barn-burner in Game 1, as the Twins scored just two runs for a second consecutive game.

The good news is that the pitching staff continues to look fantastic, all things considered. Additionally, the offense will get Josh Donaldson back for Game 2 of the double-header, although Byron Buxton is sitting out the second half of the twin-bill after also resting during Game 1.

The Twins will take their hacks against Eduardo Rodriguez, who gave up three earned runs in five innings against Baltimore in his lone start this season. Rodriguez sat out the 2020 season after contracting COVID-19 and suffering from complications and a heart condition apparently caused by the virus. He posted sub-4.00 ERAs in both 2018 and 2019 and it will be a major boon to Boston’s rotation if he is able to come back at full strength.

Minnesota will send Jose Berrios to the mound for his third start of the young season. He pitched six no-hit innings in Milwaukee on opening weekend and followed that up with 5 23 innings of two-run ball in a win over Seattle. Berrios struck out eight batters last time out, and he has notched 20 strikeouts and only three walks in 11 23 inning so far this season.

Enjoy the game!
