Athletics 7, Twins 0: Offensive woes continue

A lacking offense and a grand slam by Matt Olson lost the Twins the first game of the double header.

It was not a good start to the double header. Mitch Moreland got the A’s on the board first with a 2-run homer in the 2nd inning off of Matt Shoemaker.

In the 4th inning they added 5 more runs, most of those coming from a grand slam by Matt Olson against Jorge Alcala. The other run was thanks to Moreland’s second home run of the game, a solo blast.

Matt Shoemaker left with 1 out in the 4th, his final line was: 3.1 IP, 4 H, 5 ER, 4 BB, 0 SO, 2 HR.

As for the Twins offense, they continued to struggle. They had scoring chances in the 1st and 3rd innings, but couldn’t do anything with them. The bats went quietly in the 6th, and almost did something in the 7th, giving us the final score of 7-0.

Studs(?):

Luke Farrell: 1.2 IP, 0 R, 2 BB, 2 SO

Josh Donaldson: 1-2, BB

Duds:

Mostly every other Twin.
