Know Thine Enemy: Covering the Corner
So the last time I wrote a game thread article, I bemoaned the fact that the Twins had only won once since my previous one. Little did I know.
Once again, the Twins won exactly one game over the past week. Also, a reminder that today is the one-week anniversary from the gut-wrenching, soul-crushing 13-12 loss in Oakland, in case you want to feel any sort of way about that.
The losing skid is now more of an all-out free fall, as the Twins have now lost 13 of their last 15 games.
Today, J.A. Happ and his sparkling 1.69 ERA take the mound against Logan Allen and his not-so-shiny 6.28 ERA. So ... there’s hope? That’s what that means, right?
Rocco Baldelli has Byron Buxton in the leadoff spot today, which makes a ton of sense when you realize that he’s been the only consistent hitter on the team all season this side of Nelson Cruz. Luis Arraez is not in the lineup.
Here’s to ending the freefall today and starting the run that we’ll all be talking about in October when the Twins are representing the American League in the Fall Classic.
(Also, fun note, today’s game is being broadcast on MLB’s YouTube Channel. I don't have any handle on what that means/doesn’t mean in regards to blackout restrictions, but there you go.)
