It’s a rather cruel twist for a guy whose health was an issue in 2020 and limited his impact for a new team — but exactly one at-bat into the young season, Josh Donaldson strained a hamstring rounding first and landed himself on the IL.
#MNTwins placed Josh Donaldson on the 10-day injured list with a mild right hamstring strain and recalled Brent Rooker from the taxi squad.

I can guarantee that the hottest of takes are being fired off elsewhere on the internet, but unless we get any new information, this shouldn’t be something to worry too much about. Donaldson’s recurring injuries involve his calf, and this is a little higher up on the ol’ leg spectrum.
At the moment, there’s no reason to believe this wasn’t a freak mid-stride injury, and we could be seeing him again in about two weeks’ time.
Donaldson’s trip to the IL necessitates a roster move, and it’s taxi squad man Brent Rooker who gets the first nod in 2021. Rooker’s season ended after a forearm fracture in mid-September, after having played seven major-league games and gone 6-for-19 with a homer.
We may hear a little more about Donaldson’s status during the game this evening.
All for now!
