Coming off an actual extra innings win and rare series win against Cleveland, the Twins have Baltimore coming to town. The two teams squaring off in this series are tied for the worst record in MLB, so there’s a lot on the line. The series winner will escape the distinction of being the worst team in the league.

The Twins, despite winning two of three against Cleveland, are hurting. Just about half of their starting fielders are hurt or injured, and Kenta Maeda just went to the IL as well. On the other hand, the Orioles have lost 6 in a row and 9 of their last 10. If the Twins aren’t able to come away with a series win in this one, they truly are dead.

Unfortunately for the Twins, the probable starter for Baltimore is John Means, who leads the AL in ERA, which sits at a mere 1.70. The hometown team will be sending out Matt Shoemaker, who pitched well in his last outing, but has not been good this season.
