Joe Mauer to Host Charity Home Run Derby

With lots and lots of old friends

To start this off, I highly recommend you watch all of the short videos included in this Facebook post.

As you can see, Joe and Maddie Mauer are set to host a home run derby to raise money for Gillette Children’s Hospital. It’s set to take place on June 15th at Target Field, and there are limited tickets available here. It’s a wonderful cause, and Joe’s bringing along lots of old friends to help out.

The videos in the above Instagram post are each of the confirmed athletes announcing (in varying fashions) that they will be participating in the event. Aside from Mauer, these are Justin Morneau, Brian Dozier, Trevor Plouffe, Darin Mastroianni, Brian Duensing, Joe Nathan, and the odds-on favorite, Nick Punto. It appears that more guests (not necessarily baseball players) may be joining prior to the event.

However, how about those videos? What a nostalgia trip. Dozier certainly put in quite the effort, and Duensing, Nathan, and Punto also showed some nice comedic chops. Biggest disappointment: LNP saying “working your butts off” instead of “battling your tails off”.
