After a play at the plate last night, the Minnesota Twins have lost a core member of their squad for at least seven days:
Luis Arraez will be going on the concussion list, Rocco Baldelli announces. Nick Gordon will be rejoining the Twins.

Utilityman Luis Arraez is hitting the seven-day concussion Injured List after scoring a run, which included colliding with Texas Rangers catcher Jose Trevino. He remained in the game but was eventually replaced by Jake Cave in the 6-5 win. He was eventually called out, but the call was overturned after being reviewed.
Minnesota will surely miss Arraez’s bat in the lineup. He currently has a .291/.398/.372 (OPS +128) slash line with a homer and 11 RBI. He has also drawn 14 walks, which is the most on the team. To take his roster spot, Nick Gordon has been re-called from Class AAA St Paul, who is in Omaha to kick off the minor league season. Gordon is en route and will be available for tonight’s game. Heck, maybe he’ll actually play and make his debut!
In another small bit of news, pitching coach Wes Johnson announced that southpaw Lewis Thorpe will be starting tomorrow’s game against the Rangers. According to Do-Hyoung Park of MLB dot com, skipper Rocco Baldelli is hoping the move will allow one more day for Michael Pineda to recover from being hit by a pitch during his last start. There is no corresponding move yet.
