Reds 10, Twins 7: Win streak ends at 5

Bailey Ober started for the Twins and, at least early on, pitched well. In the 3rd inning Tucker Barnhart scored the first run of the game on a solo-homer to center.

Ryan Jeffers gave the Twins a 2-1 lead with a 2-run homer to left in the 4th inning.

Things unraveled a bit in the 5th though, as the Reds pushed across 3 runs to take a 4-2 lead. Those runs came after 2 singles, a walk, and a 2-run double, ending Ober’s day. Tyler Duffey came in, surrendered the 3rd run, with Jesse Winker thrown out at the plate to end the inning.

Another 3-run outburst against Alex Colome in the 8th gave the Reds a 7-2 lead. Two of those runs were unearned, as Miguel Sano misplayed a ball for an error.

The Twins answered back in the 8th. Max Kepler blasted a 2-run shot to center. Then Trevor Larnach hit a towering drive to right for a solo-HR. Ryan Jeffers hit a 1-out single, and then Miguel Sano came one inch from tying the game with a 2-run homer, but it hit the corner of the fence for a ground-rule double. Alex Kirilloff blasted (I’ve said blasted a few times here) a double off the scoreboard in right-center to tie the game at 7! Luis Arraez struck out to end the inning, stranding the go-ahead run at 2nd.

Hansel Robles came in to work the 9th and gave up a 1-out double to Nick Castellanos. Tyler Stephenson was then hit by a pitch. Tyler Naquin hit a 3-run homer to give the Reds a 10-7 lead. We can’t have nice things, I guess.

Amir Garret came in to close out the game, and did so, giving us a 10-7 Reds win. The 5 game winning streak for the Twins is ober. They will face Cleveland next, with an off day tomorrow.
