The series is even at a game apiece, and game 76 is even by virtue of not being an odd number.
Today it will be the lefty Sam Hentges — not Hedges, or Hinges, but the much more popular ‘Hentges’ — the rookie sensation with a league-leading eight wild pitches. Hentges was last seen facing the Twins on April 28th, when he soaked up some innings during a 10-2 Twins victory. The young southpaw has not been limiting much hard contact in 2021, but has workable velocity and is a product of the Cleveland pitching system, which means anything can (and will) happen.
Maeda is back out there for Minnesota. Despite giving up a pair of homers, he earned a win in Texas last weekend, and is looking to make it seven straight starts with three earned runs allowed or fewer. Maeda has not pitched into the seventh inning yet this season.
Louie Lots-o-Bags is back out in left tonight after a strong slugging showing on Friday night. Miguel Sano gets the start, but hits behind Ryan Jeffers, who’s working an .845 OPS in June.
