This is going to be 77.77% of the game that was actually scheduled for tonight, as game two of this Manfred-header is the rescheduled game from June 28th. That means both games will only be seven innings, instead of the regulation nine. While I generally hate the seven-inning double headers, I’m sure the players appreciate it, as this is their second in three days, and they don’t have another day off until the 29th.

In what is sure to be a riveting duel, rookie pitcher and Air Force Captain Griffin Jax faces newly-extended All Star Lance Lynn. Lynn just set the starting pitching market at $19 million per year AAV with his two-year extension with the White Sox. I’ve always liked him, but I sort of hope he turns into a pumpkin sooner rather than later. Jax will be making his second career start, last appearing for Minnesota on July 3rd. He threw five innings in that outing, and gave up a lot of runs. Generally speaking though, that is what he does—his ERA is 8.66. You know who else had an ERA over eight as a rookie though? Jose Berrios. True story. Since then, its never been over 4, with 2020 at exactly 4.00 and the rest of his career being under. So in other words, there is still hope for Jax to become the perennial subject of internet debates.

I hate Chicago, and I especially hate the White Sox and the annoying, over-confident, windy-mouthed, bandwagonny parts of their fanbase. I don’t have a lot of faith the Twins will do anything to shut them up tonight, but here are the guys who will try.
