First Pitch: 12:05 pm CDT

TV: FS1

Radio: WCCO 830 / The Wolf 102.9 FM / TIBN

This is the first game on the major-league docket this morning, so fans everywhere will get to watch the nationally-televised ass-kicking commence before moving on with their day.

Gerrit Cole, noted Stickmeister and close companion of Josh Donaldson’s, has been carving up hitters as per usual, with 56 strikeouts in his last 34.1 innings pitched — though those numbers are accompanied by a 4.19 ERA in the same timeframe, blown up by a dud outing in Tampa Bay a couple weeks ago.

In the same stretch of time, Kenta Maeda has 54 strikeouts in his last 45.1 innings, having been slightly less injured than Cole, and laying down a 2.98 ERA mark since the Fourth of July.
