You’ve probably noticed I’ve been pretty scarce around the site lately. It’s nothing personal about you. I promise.
Like all of us, changes have come to my personal life. A big move, a new job, and going back to school. All in the same month. Yes, I’m crazy. Its all good though. What it does mean, is I can’t commit the time to this place that the site deserves, and that you, the community that makes this place great deserves. It’s been a great run for me as site manager, but now it’s time to turn the reins over to someone else.
If you think you might be the right someone, you should absolutely apply! The writers here are great, and make life easy for you. The support you get from around SB Nation is fantastic as well. Here are all the details and how to do so:
What does the role entail?
The manager would be responsible for the following duties:
- Making sure that the site is publishing every day, and at a volume high enough for the site to continue to grow.
- Manage the site’s Facebook and Twitter accounts, and help them continue to grow.
- Recruit, train and manage a staff of contributors that cover Twins news on the site.
- Regular communication with SB Nation management over site goals, traffic, and progress.
- Moderating and maintaining a vibrant, welcoming site community.
What qualifications should you have?
- Have a passion for the Twins and news and is already familiar with Twinkie Town.
- Understand how to use popular social media networks, like Twitter and Facebook, and be willing to adapt to new best practices.
- Be able to produce and edit clean copy.
- Have the organizational skills to manage a staff of multiple people.
- Be comfortable working in a remote environment.
How do you apply?
To apply, please email a cover letter explaining why you’re the best fit for the role and a Twins-related writing sample to tanya.bondurant[at]sbnation[dot]com.
If you have questions about this role, the application process, or Twinkie Town or SB Nation in general, please contact Tanya as well.
SB Nation and Twinkie Town are committed to bringing you coverage of Minnesota United from a diverse array of voices and perspectives. If your background and experience do not perfectly align with every single thing we’re looking for, but you believe you have the potential to thrive in this role, we encourage you to apply.
I have about a million people to thank, and I will do so in a later post. Until someone else steps in, I’ll still be helping out around the site, and hopefully the next manager still lets me contribute occasionally.
Until next time, Go Twins Go!
