John Gant turned in a pretty good start tonight, only facing real trouble in the 3rd inning. Myles Straw and Andres Gimenez both got 2-out hits, then Jose Ramirez walked, but Franmil Reyes flew out to end the threat. Gant tossed 5 shutout innings allowing just 3 hits and striking out 7 along the way.
Lucky for Gant, the Twins offense was able to push the first run of the game across in the top of the 5th, thanks to an Andrelton Simmons RBI single.
Brent Rooker added an insurance run in the 7th with a solo shot to center.
The Twins added their third and final run of the game in the 9th on a Luis Arraez triple, his fifth of the year, scoring Simmons from 1st base.
Alex Colome was brought in to close out the game. He got Owen Miller to ground out, but Amed Rosario got on base with a single. Myles Straw and Bobby Bradley proceeded to get out, ending the threat. That gives us our final score of 3-0, Twins.
Studs:
Miguel Sano: 2-3, BB
Andrelton Simmons: 2-3, 1 R, 1 RBI, BB
John Gant: 5 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 7 SO
