I'll make my off-season plan shorter because trying to do the math for salaries never makes sense when I try it. As for the Twins DFA'ing Smeltzer, I'm still a bit miffed over it because he's a lefty, was under team control for three more years, and had decent numbers.
In any event, here are my shortened plans for the Twins, and payroll should be low around 120-140M..... (sign Arraez long-term because he's earned it, sign FA catcher Barnhart)......
C) Ryan Jeffers /Tucker Barnhart (platoon R/L)
1B) Jose Miranda
2B) Jorge Polanco
3B) Gio Urshela
SS) Royce Lewis / Nick Gordon (platoon R/L or DH when needed)
RF) Trevor Larnach
CF) Byron Buxton
LF) Alex Kirilloff
DH) Luis Arraez
Bench) Gilberto Celestino
Bench) Royce Lewis / Nick Gordon
Bench) Matt Wallner
Bench) Ryan Jeffers /Tucker Barnhart
SP) Joe Ryan
SP) Sonny Gray
SP) Kenta Maeda
SP) Tyler Mahle
SP) Bailey Ober
backup SP) Simeon Woods-Richardson / Josh Winder / Cole Sands
CL) Jorge Lopez
RP) Jhoan Duran
RP) Griffin Jax
RP) Jorge Alcala
RP) Caleb Thielbar
RP) Jovani Moran
RP) Simeon Woods-Richardson / Josh Winder / Cole Sands
RP) Simeon Woods-Richardson / Josh Winder / Cole Sands
(if all these pitchers are healthy, I'd DFA Pagan and assign Dobnak to AAA again since he's signed long-term and cheap, and send one of Woods-Richardson/Winder/Sands to AAA.)
Forgot to add Cody Stashak to the mix. I'd add him in as a reliever if anyone else gets injured or falters in spring training.
Also forgot to add that I'd trade Kepler for whatever the Twins need most in young talent that is nearly ready for MLB. Or for a catcher if Barnhart isn't interested in signing with the Twins.
Essentially it's the same team the Twins already have, with just the addition of a catcher. Then again, I'd dismiss Baldelli and hire Torii or Toby or Denny Hocking.
