  • The Detroit Tigers and Kansas City Royals continue their game of one-upmanship, as the only two teams in the Central to have made any major acquisitions so far this winter. This week, the Tigers scooped up another arm for the roster in now-veteran Shelby Miller.
  • Because of my personal Was On Twitter era, I remember Miller mostly from the late-2015 trade that sent Miller and Gabe Speier to the Arizona Diamondbacks, in exchange for Aaron Blair, Ender Inciarte, and Dansby Swanson. Miller had just made his only All-Star team that year, despite going 6-17 for the Atlanta Braves; since then, he has bounced around the National League quite a bit. • The Kansas City Royals, on the other hand, might be looking to lock down their young talent long-term.
  • A series of small trades:
  • Finally, SNL host Billie Eilish made the notable decision to rep a Jake Peavy White Sox jersey last weekend. Yes, it’s a slow news week around the league, but I thought this was a rather interesting choice.

Have a great holiday weekend!
