WCCO 830 AM, the Treasure Island Baseball Network, and KMNB 102.9 FM "The Wolf" will continue to carry the games like normal.

On this date: RedHawks turn two triple plays in one game

+

On this date in 2017, the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks executed two triple plays in one game against the Lincoln Saltdogs during a Business Day game at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo, N.D.

The first one came in the top of the first when the leadoff batter reached on an error, the next batter walked, and the third batter singled to load the bases. F-M pitcher Will Solomon then induced a ground ball to third base to start the 5-4-3 triple play.

The second came in the fifth inning. With Solomon still on the mound and after walking a batter and then a single after that, another ground ball perfectly hit to third base started the second 5-4-3 triple play of the game.

The RedHawks beat the Saltdogs by a score of 3-2.

Goldeyes turn first regular-season triple play in team history

3

Although the Winnipeg Goldeyes lost to the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks last night, effectively dropping to second place in the standings, the Fish have something to be proud of: their first regular-season triple play in the teams history.

The rare feat was accomplished in the bottom of the first in a conventional 6-4-3-5-4 scoring. Interestingly, the Goldeyes did turn a triple play, but in the Northern League 2009 playoffs on September 4, also against F-M.

The voice of the Goldeyes, Steve Schuster, has the call in the Twitter link.

And down the stretch they come....

The St. Paul Saints are in a tight race to make the American Association postseason. See what they must do to make the playoffs once again in 2020

Bryon Buxton to 10-day IL and Ryan Jeffers gets his first start!!

1

Wow! Really sucks to see Buxton back on the IL when it really seemed he was hitting fine, even if the shoulder was clicking. Mine clicks all the time, but I suppose that's not really comparable. I wonder if his slide on Tuesday night aggravated it, but I wouldn't have guessed that after seeing it. But what's really exciting is Ryan Jeffers getting some playing time. He's had such a quick rise it seems like this last season and we're currently not getting a whole lot from the catcher position. Also Thorpe optioned... yeah saw that from a mile away. Too bad.

On this date: Santana notches 17 Ks

3

On this date in 2007: Johan Santana wheels and deals, striking out 17 batters and leading the way to a 1-0 victory over the Texas Rangers. Kevin Millwood allowed a solo shot to Michael Cuddyer for the lone run of the game.

The K parade included a strikeout each by Sammy Sosa and Nelson Cruz, three strikeouts each by Marlon Byrd and Brad Wilkerson, and four strikeouts by Michael Young.

When all said and done, Santana left the mound after the eighth inning allowing only two hits and no walks on 112 pitches. (And no, he did not strike out eight in a row.)

Santana still holds the team record for most strikeouts by one Twins pitcher in a game.

On this day: Thome hits first walk-off homer in Target Field history

4

On this day back in 2010...

Minnesota Twins Designated Hitter JI- Jim Thome mashes a two-run walk-off tater behind the overhang in right field. This was the first walk-off homer in Target Field history. It gave the Twins a 7-6 victory over the Chicago White Sox, pushing them further down in the American League Central standings.

American Association Game of the Week: Fargo-Moorhead at Winnipeg

+

The Minnesota Twins are off today, and who doesn't enjoy free baseball?

The Winnipeg Goldeyes will look to add to their lead in the American Association standings while the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks try to start a comeback and climb up the standings in the second half of the season. The RedHawks are broadcasting this game for free on their Facebook page. First pitch is at 702p Central.

Although the game is being played at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo, the Goldeyes are the home team for this contest as they have been using the field as their home due to travel restrictions thanks to COVID-19.
