Triple-A: Lehigh Valley IronPigs 4, Rochester Red Wings 1

Our ol’ buddy SP Kyle Gibson gave up back-to-back singles to lead off the first inning in his first start for the Red Wings, and those eventually led to two first-inning runs. It was not good. Overall Gibson gave up three runs on six hits over six innings. He also struck out eight and walked only one. (Fun Fact: Gibson gave up a hit to old friend Pedro Florimon! P-Fl!!).

SS Bengie Gonzalez batted ninth and went 2-for-3 at the plate, and that was the best any of the Red Wings hitters really did.

Side Note: ByungHo Park was activated today from the DL, but did not play in the game.

Double-A: Chattanooga Lookouts 6, Montgomery Biscuits 5

Lookouts 1B Jonathan Rodriguez totally burned the Biscuits here, coming back from a 5-0 deficit with a RBI double in the eighth and a GRAND SLAM in the ninth. It was glorious.

The only other run was scored on a SS Engelb Vielma RBI hit by pitch.

RP John Curtiss pitched the final inning and got the save. He has yet to give up a run in 12.1 innings of Double-A work this year. Stud prospect RP Nick Burdi also pitched a scoreless 1.1 innings. Both hurlers had two strikeouts, and both are good boys.

High-A: Palm Beach Cardinals 7, Ft. Myers Miracle 1

Well Cardinals SP Junior Fernandez pitched a complete game a d completely befuddled the Miracle so I’ll give him that. All the Miracle lineup could muster was five hits and a walk, the biggest hit being CF Max Murphy’s triple.

The pitching was bad.

Low-A: Dayton Dragons 5, Cedar Rapids Kernels 3

The Kernels scored once in the top of the ninth in an attempted rally, but obviously fell short. RF Jaylin Davis hit a solo home run in the game though, while 3B Caleb Hamilton went 3-for-4 with a double. The hot hitting SS Jermaine Palacios had a double in the game, but it was his only hit.

Though he lost, SP Tyler Beardsley pitched valiantly, giving up five runs (foru earned) over six innings. He had zero strikeouts, just like the Twins like ‘em.
