A recap of the Twins' minor league affiliates' results from June 10th, 2017.

Triple-A: Syracuse Nicknames 8, Rochester Red Wings 5

Some slovenly pitching from ex-Royal Yohan Pino and Arkadelphian native D.J. Baxendale hurt here, putting Rochester in an 8-1 hole they wouldn’t quite be able to come back from. 10 Red Wings batted in the fifth for five runs, and that’s all they’d get. Only 1B Matt Hague kept negotiating good counts all evening, ending up 3-5.

For today’s afternoon game, fans will get free baseballs thanks to Hulbut Care Communities, and a lucky few will get to play catch with the actor who played Kevin Costner’s dead dad in the movie Field Of Dreams. That movie was about reconciling with a father who never loved you, so it’s a perfect fan activity before next week’s Dad’s Day. Play catch with a fake dad.

Double-A: Chattanooga Lookouts 6, Montgomery Biscuits 3

CF Ryan Strasborger and 3B T.J. “Hooker” White both had multi-hit games, and picked up all the RBIs in this one (although everyone except LF Travis Harrison had a hit of their own). LF LaMonte Wade and SS Nick Gordon each added two walks.

Steven Gonsalves was pulled after running up 96 pitchers in five innings and allowing three runs. He did have six strikeouts. SG Nick Anderson didn’t miss a single free throw spot, as he was perfect in two frames.

The Lookouts are on a long road trip, so if you live in Chattanooga, I suggest the perfect gift for Dad would be buying him this song on iTunes. He’ll hate the song, but he’ll thank you for teaching him how to use iTunes.

High-A: Ft. Myers Miracle 5, Tampa Yankees 1

Pretty much all the offense came on 3B Nelson Molina’s first-inning, two-out grand slam; the Miracle only had four hits in all. CF Daniel Kihle and 2B Alex Perez contributed the other three. Aussie starter Lachlan Wells left no barbie shrimp ungrilled, with no walks, six Ks, and only one ER in his 6.2.

Ft. Myers is off next Sunday, but they have a cool early Dad’s day present this Wednesday: a bartender contest for charity. Local servers are competing during selected games this season to see who can sell the most hooch. Winners get a charity donation made to the recipient of their bar’s choice. The bartender contestants get four free tickets for friends to enjoy the mixology. THIS CONTEST RULES

Low-A: Cedar Rapids Kernels 5, Burlington Bees 3

As the Bible states, “in the big inning.” Your Mean Corn took the lead for good with a four-run sixth, powered by back-to-back homers from 1B Caleb Hamilton and RF Jaylin Davis. Davis also had a Saturday double. Dominican starter Eduardo Del Rosario (such a Twins name!) pitched six strong innings.

I can’t see any specific promotions planned for next Sunday, but on every Sunday kids get a free hot dog, popcorn, and Capri Sun. That oughtta hold the little bastards. This is a gift to parents in itself.
