Triple-A: Rochester Red Wings off
No game.
[No Box Score]
Double-A: Pensacola Blue Wahoos 3, Chattanooga Lookouts 2
SP Dereck Rodriguez had an okay start for the Lookouts, but alas, not okay enough. He gave up all three of the Blue Wahoos runs in the game on a three run blast by 1B Nick Longhi in the 6th inning, lasting 7 innings overall. D-Rod is now working with a 3.77 ERA over 28.2 innings pitched in Double-A this year.
Lookouts 3B T.J. White hit a two-run home run in the 4th inning to give the Lookouts the initial lead, but damn it this is why getting on base matters.
High-A: Ft. Myers Miracle 1, Palm Beach Cardinals 0
Now THIS is my kind of start. SP Sean Poppen was amazing, pitching 8 scoreless innings for the Miracle yesterday to help secure the win.
CF Tanner English was again the hero for the Miracle at the plate, hitting an RBI triple in the top of the 8th inning to drive in the game’s only run.
Low-A: Peoria Chiefs 3, Cedar Rapids Kernels 0
The Kernels were just no match for Chiefs SP Mike O'Reilly yesterday, who pitched a one-hit, 9-inning, complete-game shutout. He also struck out twelve Kernels batters in the game. That’s bad news if you’re a Kernels fan.
Shout out to CF Christian Cavaness for getting that one Kernels hit.
Rookie League: Elizabethton Twins 13, Johnson City Cardinals 12
1B J.J. Robinson hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th inning to win this slugfest for the baby Twins. Earlier in the game, Robinson hit a three run home run to help the team’s cause. 3B Andrew Bechtold homered as well.
2017 draftee LF Brent Rooker also had a good game, going 3-for-3 with three (!!!) walks, an RBI, and three runs scored. He also had an outfield assist.
